LLANGYBI FAWR.
The Community of Llangybi Fawr in the County of Monmouthshire, lies in the lower Usk valley, two miles south of Usk five miles north of Caerleon it includes two ecclesiastical parishes, Llangybi with Coed y Paen, and Llandegfedd with Llandewi.[originally separate parishes]. Bounded by the River Usk to the East, by Sor and Candwr brooks to the West and the Dowlais brook to the North.
The electoral roll of the Community's four villages currently shows dwellings and 710 registered electors [2006]. The Community area is essentially rural, dominated by pastoral farming, well covered with small woods and many occasional trees giving a very attractive mature appearance. Field patterns are generally still small. Agriculture the dominant land use, small farms with traditional vernacular farm buildings adorn the landscape giving a picture book appearance.
However, the majority of work followed by the citizens of the community appears to be in the surrounding towns and cities, commuting daily and weekly to their work.
